Kali Jackson
Hi, I'm Kali Jackson (@radicalkjax). I'm a technical solutions specialist and software engineer with expertise in React Native, Angular and Rust development. I research malware reverse engineering, and I'm also an AI enthusiast with extensive experience in the field.
My journey in technology began with a passion for understanding how things work and a desire to create solutions that make a difference. Throughout my career, I've worked on various projects ranging from mobile applications to security research, always driven by curiosity and a commitment to excellence.
As a transgender woman, I'm also passionate about sharing my experiences and advocating for inclusivity and diversity in tech. My blog serves as a platform for both technical content and personal reflections on my journey.

Professional Experience
- Device Management - Managed 300+ specialized public facing devices across California (57 counties).
- Training & Support - Created documentation, trained new staff during onboarding, visited client sites to perform trainings and gain understanding.
- Engineering - Reverse engineered API to create in-house solution. Created robust Angular and React apps for public facing devices.
- Incident Response - First on call for outages and when dealing with a sensitive client issue.
- Creative Problem Solving - Created a faraday cage to isolate a grounding problem for a monitor line
- Leadership - Pitch solutions and lead calls with stakeholders. Provided team structure and processes documentation.
- Project Management - Lead efforts to install, secure, setup and launch each device under my management.
- Security - Build whitelist and diagram for required services per device and common county network topologies. Ensured physical security of devices.
Built, operated and managed 300+ public devices across 57 counties, such as kiosks and line-buster tablets, across multiple network topologies. I've worked to establish a supply chain with the manufacturers to ensure the devices meet client needs. Leading the integration of the devices into county business processes to ensure we are policy compliant is a puzzle I enjoy. Keeping devices ADA compliant has been a personal priority of mine. Taking feedback from the ground workforce to develop the most robust and functional software we can to meet their needs is something I take pride in.
Working with clients on getting devices ordered, shipped, setup and installed I ensure every step of the process is completed and documented. Installation of devices includes working with client security, management, network, management and facilities teams to make sure the devices are secured in the physical and cyber realms.
Provide support and QA for the services and devices under my management including app and service enhancements. I trained the new system test team on these processes and ensured they felt comfortable before leaving them on their own.
I wrote end-user and technical documentation for troubleshooting and general use such as POAMs or Operation Working Documentation. I also performed trainings to management, general staff, and the clients technical teams. This training included information on integrating the devices into the office workflow, how to perform general maintenance, basic troubleshooting and expand knowledge on the core services.
Became a core subject matter expert and brought onto the development team to help create a modernized and robust version of the app the devices I managed for year use. Using my deep experience over the years I've been able to create what the client has envisioned with ease. The core app offerings existed across different app architectures and weren't unified. With using React.js we were able to modernize all our apps into one codebase for a cohesive look and feel. I was a core engineer responsible for creating more than half of the app that included both employee facing and public facing components.
Started as part time counter agent (CIA) and moved to lead Advanced Repair Agent (ARA) by the end of my time with the company. Average personal turn-time for jobs was less than a day. As lead ARA we maintained a average turn-time of 2 days. I also managed open-box and quality assurance processes.
Misc. jobs for small businesses/farms setting up Windows Server (2008-2016) with AD configs, group policy, and Sharepoint. Also setting up network infrastructure (Running fiber/CAT5e lines, install/setup of switches/routers/modems/firewall(s)).
Community Leadership
Established Cybersecurity Sacramento/DC916 in early 2024 and began building a community for Cybersecurity enthusiasts, hackers, and makers that meets monthly to discuss new topics and give presentations. When I left the group with expanded leadership it had grown to 100+ members.
